Parkinson’s SuperWalk slated for Nelson in September
This September, thousands of people across British Columbia will be lacing up their shoes to participate in the national annual fundraiser for Parkinson’s disease, Parkinson SuperWalk.
SuperWalk will take place in 15 locations in BC and in 90 communities across Canada, including Nelson. SuperWalk aims to raise $3 million nationally and $325,000 in British Columbia.
This year, the effort of one team from White Rock, Hike for Hank, is leading to record-breaking donations and is on track to becoming the most successful fundraising team in the history of the event.
Proceeds from SuperWalk directly support the goals of Parkinson Society British Columbia: advocacy, education, community outreach, scientific research and public awareness. For families living with Parkinson’s disease, the walk represents an opportunity to raise critical funds for the society, but more importantly, it gives walkers hope.
Go to parkinson.bc.ca to register as a walker or to make a donation. The 17th Annual Parkinson SuperWalk in Nelson will take place at Rotary Lakeside Park on September 9. Registration begins at 10 a.m. Walk starts at 11 a.m.
