Nelson participating in One Billion Rising
The West Kootenay Women's Association is calling on Nelson to join in a global dance revolution being held on Valentine's Day. To raise awareness about the fact that one in three women will be raped or beaten in their lifetime, the One Billion Rising movement was started.
After holding a successful dance workshop on Saturday at the Self-Design High, many are prepared for a flash-mob dance planned for February 14 at 3:45 at Chahko Mika Mall. The dancing will continue later in the evening at The Royal.
With women and dance the theme, a Valentine's Day evening event held at The Royal from 5 to 8 p.m. will include music, performances, spoken word and lots of dancing.
