Patients at Nelson’s Community First Health Co-op now have remote access to 20 specialists in many fields, who can do exams remotely using high-resolution hand-held cameras and other peripherals. Since June, about 200 patients have taken advantage of the Livecare technology. Project manager Vince Zemarosa says it also helps addresses the local family physician shortage, as patients unable to find one can see one from Vancouver without leaving Nelson.
