Hume hosts Nelson art show
Nelson artist Shawn Morris is coming home.
After travelling country-wide with his work, designing trucker hats and joining such artist collectives as the Whistler State of Art, he’s coming back to the Kootenays for a one-night only pop-up show at the Hume Hotel on Friday.
“I am always stoked to come home as the creative spirit of the Kootenays and its people continues to be an incredible influence on me artistically,” he said.
“I feel exceptionally blessed that people continue to respond so positively to my art. There really is no better feeling in this context than when my friends dig my creations.”
Morris said he creates “for the simple sake of creating” and that his work is often environmentally themed.
“I am constantly taken aback by the aesthetics in the natural world. To a certain degree my art is an extension of my photography and I find it lets me push the limits of my creativity inspirational directions.”
His show will take place between 7 and 10 p.m. at the Hume Hotel, where there will be a cash bar, snacks and appies on the house. There will also be a DJ “spinning groovalicious tunes.”
His message to locals: “Come see for yourself. Let’s mingle.”
