Former Nelson-Creston MLA backs Dix
On the heels of last week’s NDP leadership debate in Nelson, former MLA Lorne Nicolson is endorsing Adrian Dix for party leader.
“After seeing Adrian in action, it is clear he is the candidate who is making distinct proposals that both reflect NDP values and will energize NDP voters and attract new supporters,” Nicolson said in a news release.
“I know that it takes stamina and steadfast commitment to implement a truly progressive agenda. Adrian is the one to do it and retain the public’s respect.”
Nicolson represented Nelson-Creston in the Legislature from 1972-86 and was housing minister in the Dave Barrett government.
“Lorne is an anchor of the party,” Dix said in thanking Nicolson for his support. “He has always led by example, providing mentorship to my generation, activists, and newer members of the NDP.
Present Nelson-Creston MLA Michelle Mungall is also backing Dix, while former MLA Corky Evans and present Kootenay West MLA Katrine Conroy have both endorsed Mike Farnworth.
