Occupy Nelson joins Global Revolution Day
From Wall Street, to Montreal, to Vancouver and even to Nelson, thousands of people around the world joined what has been called Global Revolution Day.
There were hundreds of people outside of Nelson's city hall on Saturday afternoon as protesters joined in solidarity with the Occupy Wall Street movement that began in New York City nearly a month ago.
Occupy Nelson included songs, speeches, and cheers from members of the public, organizers and local MLA Michelle Mungall.
Local funnyman Lucas Myers sang one of the songs from his latest production iShow where he encouraged the crowd to "mobilize."
The crowd took to the streets around 2 p.m. where they marched from city hall and down Baker Street, returning to city hall for an open mic session.
