Nelson high school students take big step
The L.V. Rogers Class of 2012 paraded out in front of family and friends at the Nelson and District Community Complex on Friday for the official cap and gown ceremony.
Grads were ushered into the arena floor by the Moving Mosaic Samba Band dressed in their blue graduation capes and hats. After speeches by Southern Interior MP Alex Atamanenko, Mayor John Dooley and School District #8 superintendent Jeff Jones, the grads received their diplomas.
Principal Tim Hutteman also spoke and the grads were left with the speech by valedictorian Mikaiya Austin.
The grand march, cavelcade through Nelson's downtown and prom go Saturday.
