Poor weather delays search and rescue operations to Johnsons Landing
KASLO — Search and rescue are going into the second day of operations in Johnsons Landing, but with overnight thunder storms, rain and low laying cloud, questions are mounting around whether crews will fly into the landslide this morning.
With the assistance of the Heavy Urban Search and Rescue crews out of Vancouver, local crews and RCMP were able to access part of the house where four missing residents were last seen.
This morning the skies are quiet of Kaslo, as rain falls SAR teams are waiting to hear from geo-technicians who have been constantly evaluating and monitoring the slide.
Safety for the crews has been a priority since they arrived on the scene following the initial slide on Thursday morning and with other slides yesterday like the one captured in this video by Global TV Edmonton, officials are being careful to evaluate the stability of the area.
