Man arrested after Slocan Valley crash
It sounded like something out of the Dukes of Hazzard.
A man involved in a dramatic crash on Highway 6 Saturday just south of Winlaw was arrested after fleeing the scene.
Slocan Lake RCMP responded around 2 p.m. along with fire, ambulance, and search and rescue crews.
Police say the vehicle was speeding and lost control, nearly colliding with an oncoming vehicle.
The car left the road and hit a steep hill. It was then launched into the air and traveled over the two lanes of the highway and landed in the opposite ditch.
A man who was in the vehicle left the scene before police arrived, but was later located and arrested.
He was taken to hospital in Nelson with serious injuries but was expected to be released within a day.
Cst. Christopher Spiers says they aren't releasing the man's age and hometown for the moment. No charges have yet been laid.
But police do want to thank members of the public who stopped and helped the man and want to hear from anyone with information about the incident.
Vehicle burned near Hall Siding
RCMP say a truck was burned and destroyed overnight November 6 and 7 about 20 km north of Salmo on Highway 6.
The 2001 Red Mazda 4x4 was left unattended off a deserted road near Kapak Road the night of November 6-7.
It's a popular spot to cut firewood, which is what the owner was doing.
Police are asking for tips.
