New year starts with a splash with polar bear swim
A crew of brave and/or crazy folks took a quick plunge into Kootenay Lake at noon on New Year's Day. Hot chocolate and even hotter chili was on hand to warm those who started 2013 with a splash. A few blankets, parkas, toques, towels and warm hands of supporters came in handy too. The Polar Bear Dip is an annual event organized to raise funds to the Kootenay Lake Hospital Foundation.
