Garbula officially on the Nelson-Creston ballot
Nelson-Creston Liberals have given Greg Garbula the official nod to represent the party for the election slated for May 14.
Nominated at a meeting held this week, the former vice president and general manager of the Kokanee Springs Golf Resort enters the ring with NDP candidate Michelle Mungall and Green Party hopeful Sjeng Derkx.
Garbula believes communities across the region are looking for new leadership in the riding.
“Our riding needs an MLA who will help grow our local economy,” said Garbula. “We don’t need an MLA that stands on the sidelines – we need someone who will dig in and fight for a stronger economy.”
Garbula is the past president of the Kootenay Lake Chamber of Commerce, and also sits on a number of local boards including as a Director of the Kootenay Rockies Tourist Association and the Regional Transportation Advisory Committee.
Garbula is impressed with a renewal taking place with today’s BC Liberals citing the BC Prosperity Fund as an example. Similar to Alberta’s Heritage Fund, the BC fund would capitalize on future natural gas development as announced in the government’s throne speech this week.
“Under Premier Christy Clark, BC is headed in the right direction,” said Garbula.
Garbula was endorsed by local party members at a meeting held at the New Grand Hotel Tuesday evening.
