Joyriders damage Selkirk College grounds
Two 19-year-old men have been arrested after a vehicle tore up the grass at Selkirk College's Silver King campus early Sunday.
Police say they were called around 4:20 a.m. A witness saw the vehicle driving on sidewalks, the grass, and around buildings.
Officers located the vehicle and arrested the two men on a charge of mischief over $5,000. Both were held in custody until they sobered up and then released on promises to appear in court and stay away from the college.
The driver was also issued a roadside prohibition and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
"Representatives for Selkirk College were notified of the damage and they will be assessing the actual cost to repair the grounds," Sgt. Janet Scott-Pryke said in a news release.
