Highway 3A 15 km west of Nelson at Beasley Bluff is closed at this hour because or a forest fire that ignited nearby.
Firefighting crews are on scene. Officials are assessing the situation and we will update this story when we learn more.
Officials estimate the highway will be reopened between 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Drive BC says there is a detour available via Blewett Road.
The City of Nelson advised that the fire impacted FortisBC’s main transmission line that feeds Nelson.
“Emergency personnel have responded to the fire. Nelson Hydro crews are looking at alternative ways to restore power to the city in the event this is a long-term outage. There is currently no estimated time on when power will be restored,” the city’s news releases says.
