A very special fundraiser has been started for a very special local girl.
Annabelle Edl spent the first two years of her Kootenay childhood in Raspberry Village before moving to Nelson. She loves playing at the Castlegar playgrounds, Millennium Ponds, and going to her grandfather's house for dessert. This joyful, creative, loving eight-year old had the misfortune of being diagnosed with Childhood Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia several months ago.
The situation has been emotionally and financially hard on the family, as they've had to relocate to Vancouver for treatment. In the spirit of the giving season, a fundraiser is being held for her at the office of Chris Mansbridge, Acupuncturist and Herbalist. On Dec. 15 and 20, holiday de-stress group acupuncture will be offered. "It's a simple twenty-minute treatment with just two needles that can be inserted without disrobing. This style of treatment has been successfully used for combat veterans, people quitting smoking and addictions, and for anyone who just needs to have life slow down," says Mansbridge. "This is the best way I could think of to raise money for a great cause, while allowing people to enjoy themselves and maybe try something new," he added. "And Annabelle says I have to. I'm her uncle."
The event gets underway from 5:30 p.m to 7:30 p.m. both days. Please call 250-365-5500 to RSVP a spot. Although it's encouraged to give generously, no donation is too small. If you're unable to attend, but would like to help, you can go to Annabelle's gofundme page: gofundme.com/2qnn4crd.
