UPDATED: Nelson gas prices skyrocket in just one day

The cost went from $1.29 to $1.45 at one station on Wednesday

So much for Nelson’s cheap gas.

As of Wednesday morning the city had the lowest gas prices in the West Kootenay. Three of Nelson’s four gas stations were selling regular at $1.34.7, while the Shell station was marked at $1.29.9.

That changed abruptly in the afternoon. With the exception of Husky, which remained at $1.34.7, every other station rose to $1.45.7.

Most other stations in the West Kootenay remained unchanged as of Thursday morning.

The lowest price outside Nelson, according to gasbuddy.com, was in Fruitvale at $1.37.9, followed by Montrose ($1.38.9), Warfield ($1.39.7) and Rossland ($1.41.9).

Grand Forks was $1.48.9, while Trail and Castlegar were both selling at $1.49.9.

The current average price in B.C. is $1.46.3 per litre with Prince George boasting the lowest price at $1.18.9.
