But be cautious anyway, because of increased turbidity….

The City of Nelson has rescinded its Boil Water Notice.

“We suspect that a sampling error occurred and was the trigger for the boil water notice issued on May 4,” reads a notice released yesterday.

But the city says there is another reason residents might want to continue boiling their water.

“Recent heavy rain and runoff has resulted in high turbidity (cloudiness) in our surface water source.”

High turbidity levels make the disinfection system less effective, the notice states, and people with weak immune systems, infants, or elderly people many be at increased risk.

So the city has replaced its Boil Water Notice with a Water Quality Advisory.
