The City of Nelson is restricting residents’ water usage following a weather report from Environment Canada.

With hot and dry conditions expected to continue for the next week or longer, the season’s historically deep snowpack is rapidly diminishing and the city has decided to implement Level 1 Mandatory Water Conservation measures.

That means if you have an even-numbered address, you are only allowed to water via sprinkler or irrigation on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 4 to 9 a.m. and 7 to 10 p.m. If you have an odd-numbered address, the hours will be same times on Thursdays and Sundays.

There are no restrictions on hand watering if you use a shut-off nozzle, and if you have new sod or plantings that require watering outside these hours it will require a permit from the public works department. If you’d like a permit, contact publicworks@nelson.ca
