It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Bernice Illingworth of Nelson at the age of 69 years. Bernice passed away peacefully in her sleep at home during the night of December 27/28, 2016. She is now with her predeceased family which includes her Father and Mother, Anthony Jacob and Isabell Ruth McLean and her younger siblings, Tom McLean and Terry Botha.

Bernice was born in Cumberland, BC and enjoyed a rewarding career as a Licensed Practical Nurse working at hospitals in Comox, Mission, Prince Rupert and Nelson. She met and married Richard when he was serving in the Royal Canadian Air Force at Comox and would have celebrated their 49th anniversary in March 2017.

Bernice is survived by her loving husband Richard and her two sons, Tony of Nelson and Steve of Kelowna. Other close relatives are Gord Botha, her sister’s husband of Nanaimo, BC. Other close friends are Steve’s partner Josie and her two children, Joenel and Ella of Kelowna.

Bernice really loved to bake and to do crafts and there will be many folks that will miss her chocolate chip cookies and other baked goods, as well as the many handmade items that she used to sell at craft fairs.

There will be no funeral service for Bernice and cremation has taken place, as per her wishes. A memorial Service may be held in the spring when the weather is better of travelling. Anyone wishing to make a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, Okanagan/Kootenay Area Office, 4-1551 Sutherland Avenue, Kelowna, BC V1Y 9M9 in Bernice’s memory may do so.
