Baines, Denis M. Denis M. Baines passed away March 2nd at Kootenay Lake Hospital following a brief illness. Survived by his loving wife Grace; daughter Susan (Tom); son Brian (Gail); grandsons Michael and Christopher; brothers Ken, Bev and Winston; sister Jacqueline and many nieces and nephews. Denis was born in Trail 24 November 1931 to James and Beatrice. He married Grace Paterson 20 February 1954 and worked at Cominco as a machinist, for 27 years until 1975. He then fulfilled his dream of living in Balfour and working on the Kootenay Lake Ferry as a marine engineer, for 20 years, retiring in 1996. Denis was the ultimate fisherman and also enjoyed golf and gardening. The family wishes to thank Dr. Bridger for the care he provided over the years. Special thanks to Dr. Gueordjev; Kootenay Lake Hospital E.R. staff; 3rd floor staff; lab; X-ray; Administration and Office staff; Kootenay Lake Hospital Foundation; KLH Auxiliary and the paramedics who attended to Denis. We appreciate the bouquets, cards, baskets and donations to the KLH Foundation CT Scan Fund. Thank you to the caring friends and neighbours at High Street Place for your kindness and support. There will be no funeral by request. A family memorial will be held in the summer.
