Donald “Don” Raymond Beattie of Cold Lake, Alberta passed away in Cold Lake on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at the age of 98 years. Don was a long time resident of New Westminster, BC where he worked at St. Mary’s hospital and had his own electrical company named Beattie and Hemming Electric. He was raised in Nelson where he later spent 10 retirement years before coming to Cold Lake to be close to family. Don spent a lot of time playing golf in the summer and winter months when he and Bette travelled south. In the winter he was also often seen at the curling rink and on the slopes. Don was in the Royal Canadian Airforce and was deployed to Scotland during WWll as a Radar Technician.
Don is lovingly survived by his wife, Bette of 52 years, and his three daughters: Sheila Miller (Tony Pettipas) along with her two children: Jordie & Andy of Cold Lake, AB, Anne Beattie of New Westminster, BC, Pam (Larry) Racanello and their son: Michael of New Westminster, BC.
Don was predeceased by his son: Ian Beattie in 2000; eight siblings: David, Ronald, Norman, George, Robert, Mary, John, Rose; parents: David & Ellen Beattie.
A Celebration of Life will be held in August 2017 in Nelson, BC.
