It is with sadness in our hearts that we announce the passing of Dorothy Harfman.  Dorothy was born in Edmonton Alberta and moved to Salmo when she was two years old. She was one of five children born to Dorothy and Ray Kline. She is survived by her children Jeff (Melissa) and Diana (Doug) Lockwood, five grandchildren Ashley (Jordan), Felicia (Layton), Cameron, Christian (Isa), Jordan, and two great grandchildren Knightly and Tanya. Dorothy also leaves behind her sister Lynn and brother Ray along with many brother and sisters in law, and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Diane and brother Billy, and her mother (Dorothy) and father (Ray).

Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Herb of 46 years. They met in and made their home in Salmo. Dorothy and Herb started their life together with great ambitions. They tried their hand at many businesses with their mobile home park being their biggest success. Dorothy worked hard every day of her life and never complained how hard the work was. After Herb passed away she continued the sometimes arduous work of the everyday running of the mobile home park. Her passions were shoe shopping, finding treasures, the home renovation tv shows and car rides. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking, huckleberry picking and spending time with the ones she loved. She loved to laugh.

Dorothy had one request and that was to spend her last days of her life at home and that request was fulfilled.

Our family would like to thank Dr. Innis, Dr. Lindsey, Tamara and the rest of home support, Liz  and the Kootenay Lake Staff (you know who you are) for your kindness and support from the beginning to the end.

A celebration of life will take place at Salmo Valley Youth Center on September 3, 2016 at 2pm. Castlegar Funeral Chapel has been entrusted with the cremation arrangements. Dorothy lost her sister and brother to a swimming accident. She always thought it was important for kids to have swimming lessons. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Salmo Valley Swimming Pool Box 453 Salmo, BC
