Gordon Gastov Pictin

June 13, 2010

GORDON GASTOV PICTIN January 30, 1936 - June 13, 2010 Passed away peacefully at home on Sunday morning. Gordon Pictin was a figurehead in the Kootenays and will never be forgotten. Gord served Salmo through many years of devoted service as Fire Chief for the Salmo Fire Department. Many of Gord's hours were volunteered to the construction of numbers of major local projects. A reliable mechanic who repaired many of our vehicles and pumped gallons of gas in his years during the operation of his multiple service stations. Gord was a hard working, successful businessman, who built his home and raised a large proud family. Gordon is survived by his sisters, Frances and Molly; brother, John; and dear friend, Art Craddock; five children; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Froll Pictin and Helen Kalesnikoff; brother, Mike Pictin and wife of 48 years, Margaret Irene (MacKay) Pictin. Thank you for the expressions of condolence through out the community and the many calls. Gordon has requested no service. Gordon had a passion for the outdoors. The love for his many dogs, squirrels and birds was comparable to his family. Try not to grieve for Gordy. He's Worked Hard and Gone Fishin'!
