GRAHAM MAURICE OLIVER

April 8, 1923- September 23, 2010

Graham passed away peacefully at the age of 87. He is fondly remembered by his three children, Keith (Les), Barb (Dave) and Ken ( Pat), his six grandchildren, Jenine, Warren, Ashley, Morgan, Lindsay , Justin and his special companion, Sheila. He was predeceased by his loving wife Betty in 1991.

Graham was a long time resident of Nelson, BC, where he concluded his 25 years

of service with the BC Forest Service. He was as an avid ham radio operator (VE7VM) and was a founding member of both the West Kootenay Amateur Radio Club and the Nelson Branch of the Canadian Power and Sail Squadron.

A great joy to Graham and his family was their home on the North Shore, with its spectacular view of the Queen City of the Kootenays. Graham called Kelowna home for the last five years. He enjoyed old and new friendships in Sandpoint, Sandalwood and amongst the local amateur radio operator group.

Graham’s love of travel and the outdoors took him across Canada and through Britain, Europe, Hawaii, New Zealand, the US and Mexico.

The family would like to extend our sincere thanks to the patient, caring and supportive staff of the Village at Smith Creek in West Kelowna, who helped make Dad’s last days meaningful and comfortable.

Graham’s favourite saying: “It is not the cards you are dealt, but how well you play the hand.”

There will be a private interment at the City of Nelson Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any charity of choice.

Celebrations of Graham’s life will be held on October 8, 2010 in the Robson Salon at the Prestige Lakeside Resort in NeIson, between 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM., and in the Upper Lounge at the Manteo Waterfront Resort in Kelowna, between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM, on October 16, 2010.
