It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved Hilda Marie Nielson. Hilda was born on September 26, 1931 in Chamberlain, SK. She passed away at age 85, on November 27, 2016 with family by her side at Mountain Lakes Senior Facility.
When Hilda was 15 she moved to Nelson, BC with her family. It was in Nelson that she met and married her cherished husband of 43 years, Oka Nielson. Hilda and Oka built a life and family together n Nelson, B.C.
They purchased the Shaw’s Resthome in 1973 which they managed and ran together for 12 years. Hilda loved spending time with family and friends. Her hobbies included travelling, fishing, and playing cards. Hilda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Hilda is survived by her daughter Linda (Douglas) Chouinard, three grandchildren Serena (Jon) Mucha, Clayton (Nicole) Chouinard, and Jason (Jessica) Chouinard, and her six great grandchildren Noah, Ella, Evan, Ava, M.J. and Orson.
Hilda will be sadly missed by all who loved and knew her. A special thank you to Dr. Janz, Rachel Feniuk and the staff at Mountain Lake who cared for Hilda. Arrangements are under the direction of Thompson Funeral Service.
