He was the youngest of five children born to parents Alexander and Marion Thomson at Lessemock Cottages, District of Ochiltree, County of Ayr, Scotland.

At the age of 14 he entered a 5 year apprenticeship as an Agricultural Implement Fitter on August 10, 1945 and left January 9, 1949 to join H.M. Forces and served with the Royal Scots Fusiliers until his services were no longer required on voluntary enlistment into the Territorial Army and discharged August 4, 1950.

He married Janette Forsyth Eaglesham March 28, 1952 at The Manse, Kirkoswald with whom he remained married to for 63 years until he was predeceased by her on April 18, 2015.

He immigrated to Canada April 4, 1960 and was later joined by his wife and three children Catherine, Ian, and Maureen on June 9, 1960. The family lived in Salmo for 2 years moving to Crescent Valley in 1962 where he farmed and operated tugboats until his retirement. In 2012, he moved to Lakeview Village with Janette and after she passed he moved to Jubilee Manor where he passed.

He is survived by his daughters Catherine and Maureen, son Ian, 3 grandaughters Kristi, Heather, Jennifer, 1 grandson Danny, and 7 great grandchildren.

Cremation has taken place. There will be no services by his request.
