It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joe Troyan on March 13, 2016 in Nelson Hospital, with Skip, his wife, partner and best friend of 50 years at his side. He will be greatly missed by her and their son Tom, daughter Pam, son in-law Louie, and granddaughters Jolie and Lindsy.

Joe was born in Nelson in 1941, the third oldest of Betty and Steve's 12 children. Joe and Skip were married in 1966. Tom was born in Nelson, Pam in Lethbridge. Joe worked for City Auto service on Granite road while going to school. He graduated in 1959, then worked as chainman for a land surveyor, then for the city of Nelson as a surveyor draftsman. Later he became The Building and Pluming inspector for the city of Nelson.

Joe was an Honorary member of the Knights of Columbus serving a term as Grand Knight, with Bob Tremblay, they ran the K of C Boy Scout Troop for five years. Joe has always been a very active member of the Cathedral Parish. He also belonged to the Nelson Snow Goers and Nelson riding club.

Joe lived here most of his life except when he took his family to Alberta to fulfill a dream. He worked on a cattle ranch in the Porcupine hills then later on a farm feed lot east of Calgary. Returning to Nelson in1981, the family, with help of good friends, built their dream home at Taghum.

Joe started his Plumbing apprenticeship working for Mechanical Contractors. Later he worked for Fortis as thee Plumber, retiring in 2006. In retirement, Joe & Skip both became Teamsters and drove their Fjord mules Jed & Sally.

Joe is predeceased by his parents Betty and Steve Troyan Brothers Larry, and Ton, Sisters Ginny, Liz, and Patty. Also sadly missed by his siblings Teresa [Allan] Hettinger Joan [Jim] Lewis Bev[Butch] Schindel, Monica[Vince] Collins, Mike[Colleen] Troyan, Cathi[Ric] Bivar, in-laws Larry[Cindy] Sirr, Fran Troyan, Craig Aspinall, and Roy Johnson.

Celebration of Joe's Life will start Saturday March 19, 2016 11:00 AM, Cathedral of Mary Immaculate, 813 Ward St. Nelson BC. In lieu of flowers please donate to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
