It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, sister, friend and Nana, Judith Sharon Sturt (nee Daem).

Judy was born on February 9, 1944 and passed away on July 5, 2017 in Nelson, B.C. She was the youngest daughter of Amede and Kathleen Daem. In her youth she helped on her family’s 100 acre farm which later would be repeated on her own hobby farm with her husband Bryon and two daughters in South Slocan, B.C. She was the smile behind the deli counter at Safeway for 20 years.

Mom would go to town always dressed so beautifully and shine upon all walks of life. She had a passion for life and did things to the fullest. Her door was always open for a visit with coffee, baked goods and a sweet treat from her candy jar. Following retirement she developed a love of craft fairs and made and sold her huckleberry jams and Christmas cake. Judy was a true “Kootenay Treasure”.

Judy will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 51 years, Bryon; daughters: Julie (Sean) and Bev (Theo); four granddaughters: Cassidy,

Megan, Molly and McKenna; sisters: Fran and Clare (Martin) and brother Ted (Barb). She had many wonderful friends throughout the years. She

cherished all of you. Our family would like to express our appreciation to the staff at KLH including Dr. Kirsten and Carla, for their kindness and care over the past few months. Until we meet again.

Memorial Donations in Judith’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice. A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at the Cathedral of Mary Immaculate, 813 Ward Street, Nelson, B.C., with Reverend Neil Lustado presiding.
