LENA KENNEDY (nee Dowes) passed away peacefully at Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital in Trail on February 22 2010 at age 86. Lena was born in Winlaw July 12 1923 to parents Michael and Mildred Dowes. Among her many interests Lena was known for her excellent culinary skills, love of animals, sports, the outdoors, and most especially love of family. She is survived by her son Craig Kennedy and wife Darlene, along with grandsons Tom, Mike, Sean and wife Sarah, and granddaughter Sara. She is also survived by brothers Joe Dowes and wife Frieda, Bob "Manny" Dowes and wife Lillian, and sister Bernice "Nooky" Settle and their families. In addition she is survived by step-daughter Dixie Arrance, husband Chuck and Family. Special thanks to her niece Shirley and husband Gene Johns for coming such a long distance in our time of need. Lena is predeceased by husband Robert Kennedy and son Brent Kennedy as well as sister Nellie Moody. The family would like to extend its gratitude to all the staff that assisted in Lena's treatment at Kootenay Lake Hospital and Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital as well as Dr. R Milde who provided excellent care to Lena in her later years. Cremation has taken place and a private family gathering was held as per Lena's wishes.
