Lillian Sommerville

March 28, 2010

LILLIAN SOMMERVILLE It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Lillian was born in Benito Manitoba December 29, 1913 and passed peacefully March 28, 2010 with her family by her side at the age of 96. She was predeceased by her husband Jim, three sisters, Tina, Pauline, Anne, and four brothers, Pete, Bill, Mike and Walt. Lil is survived by her six children, Harry (Janet), Shirley (Doug), Kath (George), Erma (Les), Pat (Bryan) and Sandy (Greg), fifteen grandchildren, Janice, Patricia, Karen, Gerry, Jim, Anita, Steven, Darren, Terri, Lissa, Sherri, Scott, Laurie, Derek and Jocelyn twenty-nine great grandchildren, Justine, Austin, Cole, Savannah, Brendan, Courtney, Mikaela, Ryan, Megan, Tyson, Macy, Jessica, Cydney, Anna, Ben, Lauren, Jordan, Claire Lillian, Emma, Maddy, Alexander, Max, Ava, Dexter, Lennox, Savannah, Jakob, Logan, and Dylan. Her generous heart filled her home with love, fun, family and friends, including the attitude that there was always room for one more. She leaves all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren with the knowledge that they were truly loved. Mom worked hard for her family, she sewed all our clothes, knitted, cooked, canned, baked, somehow she also managed to wait tables at the New Star Café, The Diamond Grill, and worked at the 4-X Bakery while we were growing up. When her family had left home she joined the Kootenay Quilters to keep busy and enjoy the company of a great group of ladies. Mom's breakfast nook was the hub of the home, all were fed and all were welcome. In a 6 X 8 room, family life was worked out, laughter was heard and tears were shed, it was a return to your roots. Rest in peace Mom, we will love you for eternity, we know that you and Dad will be watching over us and you both will live in our hearts forever. Wherever a beautiful soul has been, there is a trail of beautiful memories. The family would like to thank the staff of Jubilee Manor for their care of Mom and us during the last few months.
