Marion Andrea Burbank (nee Leparqneux)

MARION ANDREA BURBANK (nee Le Pargneux) born in Rutland BC, on June 7, 1922 passed away on June 7, 2010 in Kootenay Lake Hospital on her 88th birthday. She spent her childhood in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan before leaving home to join the Air Force where she met her beloved husband Alan. They were married in Vancouver in 1945, moved to Kelowna in 1950 and then to Nelson in 1963. She is survived by her husband Alan and her children, Monica Burbank (Luke), Andrea (Don) Hoye, Garth Burbank, Elaine Perepolkin, and Bruce (Mary Ann) Burbank. She was predeceased by her child Kenneth in 1981. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Marion was a gentle, kind and generous person who volunteered countless hours of her time for a variety of causes including the Kelowna and Nelson Associations for Community Living, the Kinettes, L'Arche Vancouver, the Catholic parishes in Kelowna and Nelson, grief recovery groups in Vancouver and Kelowna, and the Central Okanagan Hospice Association. Marion was an excellent listener who was able to offer wise and supportive words to those who needed her. She was loved and admired by her family and friends and her quiet presence and her wit will be dearly missed. As an expression of sympathy family and friends may make donations to the Nelson and District Hospice Society. Cremation has taken place. Funeral Services will be held at the Cathedral of Mary Immaculate, 813 Ward Street, Nelson on Thursday, June 10, 2010 at 1:30pm with Father Jim Ratcliffe as celebrant with inurnment to follow at Nelson Memorial Park Cemetery.
