It’s with broken hearts that the family of Patrick “Dooley” Doolan announce his passing after a short fight with cancer at the age of 53.  Patrick was born in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba on September 17, 1963 to Brian and Lola Doolan and he passed away peacefully with his family at his side in Nelson, British Columbia on February 1, 2017.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 32 years Julie, his daughters Tessa (son-in-law Dan) and Kyndle, mother Lola, sister Betty Lou (brother-in-law Ed), niece Amber, and nephew Andrew.  Patrick was predeceased by his father Brian.

Patrick established a long career at Canadian Pacific Railway for 35 years that took his family to many small communities throughout British Columbia that they called home including Sparwood, Wasa, Cranbrook, Golden, and finally Nelson.

Patrick touched the lives of many people with his kind heart and overwhelming generosity, and maintained his trademark sense of humor all the way to the end.  Friends and family are invited to attend a celebration of life on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at the Prestige Lakeside Resort Nelson, 701 Lakeside Drive, Nelson, BC.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to Cystic Fibrosis Canada in Patrick’s memory in loving support to his niece and nephew.

“God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be.  So he put his arms around you and whispered, “Come to me.”  A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest.  God broke our hearts to prove to us he only takes the best.”
