This week's Hugs & Slugs offerings from Nelson area

Hugs. To the Starbucks staff for always being so polite, cheerful and doing a great job! You are appreciated!

HUGS. The Nelson and District Youth Centre’s Skills Link Group would like to extend a great big thanks to all of our great supporters in the community. We had amazing guest speakers and community partners that took time out of their busy schedules to come and share their knowledge with us or have us visit their sites to learn more about the services they provide. Thanks also to Nelson Home Hardware Building Centre for the generous donation towards our community service project. You have all lent a hand in preparing us for the next steps in our journeys.

Hugs. To my two favourite beautiful ladies who work at The Dominion Cafe. Thank you for your smiles, and great service. Also thanks for letting us stay right until closing every time we’re in after I finish work. - Mountain Magic Cookie :)

HUGS. To the thoughtful person who left the special red bad full of goodies. It made my Valentine’s Day very special, thank you.

HUGS. To the LVR teachers who take the extra care and attenion with students who face extra challenges in learning. It’s a scary age for parents and having those who clearly have the student’s future in mind is comforting.

SLUGS. To the dog walkers who pick up after their dogs only to throw the filled plastic bags to the curb.

Hugs. To all the slugs. Thanks for reminding me first world problems are a joke and that all our problems are comical.

SLUGS. I would like to send a dump truck full of slugs to the scheduling genius who just had to send loud noisy equipment including tractors, chippers, chainsaws and dump trucks to a very quiet Fairview residential neighbourhood at 8 a.m. on a Sunday morning. Reallly! Tired of vibrating windows and disturbed sleep on what should be a day of rest.

Hugs. To my wonderful husband! Thank you for being one of the few people who got past all the layers and truly saw who I was. Thank you for being my solid constant and my best friend!

HUGS. Grama-bear warm hugs to the Safeway shopper who rescued my purse from where I had left it in a buggy stall in the parking lot. And big hugs to Cam who recognized my daughter who came into the store minutes after the purse was turned in. It is comforting to know there are honest people in the world. In honour of this event, I shall donate the cash (all was left in my purse) to a local charity. Thank you.

Hugs. To Pixie Candy and Lucky Cupcakes from Nelson Grans to Grans for helping us spread the love!

HUGS. Well, I was on Baker Street today — not a dog in sight. Who said dogs can’t read. What had me puzzled though were the misplaced signs at the smoking pit in front of CIBC.

HUGS. To co-workers who bring me beer when I’m having a less than stellar day.
