LETTER: New garbage rules won’t work
I am a person with a physical disability who is writing to voice my displeasure over the new garbage rules. These new garbage rules are whack.
I understand less weight.
But I am a person with a physical disability who thankfully has nice neighbours who are willing to put out my garbage and recycling on the morning of garbage day.
But what about when they are on vacation? I need help with the garbage and my sister Lana, as wonderful as she is, is not coming by the morning of garbage day early in the morning hours to put out my garbage bag. That’s ludicrous.
Before I could have helped putting out the garbage with the can. Then it was moved back for me after they collected the garbage. It only makes sense to have cans. If two physically able men cannot handle garbage cans they should talk to my sister Lana who is a pro at helping me with my garbage can. She is a young 61 years of age.
Not to mention the mess that will be incurred when cats, dogs, raccoons decide the garbage bags are their buffet.
Please re-think this, City Of Nelson. It makes no sense. I have already spoken to Public Works to talk about my situation and voice my displeasure on the new rules.
