Granite Pointe juniors solid
Great results for a pair of young Nelson golfers at the West Kootenay Junior Golf tournament in Balfour on Saturday.
Granite Pointe’s Nolan Renwick fired an 80 to finish first in the 13 and 14 year old division and third overall. Fellow Granite member Carson Arcuri was two shots back with an 82 that was good enough for second in his division and fourth overall.
The overall winner of the first stop on the West Kootenay tour — that includes players aged 13 to 18 — was Christina Lake’s Jordan Hoodikoff who recorded a five-over 77. Rossland-Trail Country Club’s Brenan Moroney was two shots back with a 79.
Other area golfers taking part included Shawn Ellard from Kaslo (86) and Hanno Southam from Granite Pointe (98).
The next event on the West Kootenay spring tour is this coming Saturday at Granite Pointe in Nelson (noon start) and then Sunday the action shifts to Christina Lake.
