The Whos win Nelson’s Christmas Classic soccer tournament

Soccer players in Nelson for the holidays competed in Soccer Quest's annual Christmas Classic coed tournament on December 29 and 30.

In the open division (men and women aged 16 and older), the final round came down to The Who's (white shirts) and Multiple Scoregasms (red shirts).

The two teams have met each other in the final round of Christmas Classics three years in a row. In previous years it was the Multiple Scoregasms who came out on top. This year, The Who's were determined to change their fate.

Jordon Michaux had joined The Who's as a late addition and turned out to be the scoring powerhouse the team needed to edge out their competition.

Michaux scored food times for The Who's leading them to a 5-3 victory.

The game was 3-1 after the first half and the Scoregasms managed to tie the score midway through the second. But The Who's came back with two more goals, including one by their goalie, before the end of the match.

The Who's captain Tyler Anderson said it was a tough battle.

"They're a quicker, stronger team," Anderson said of the competition. "We kept the pressure on. Everyone was working really hard out there. We didn't want to come in second again."
