Nelson Bantam Reps suffer setback

Castlegar downed the Nelson Bantam Reps 7-3 on Saturday night in the first game of the West Kootenay playoffs.

The first game of the first-to-four-points series got underway at the Nelson and District Community Complex. The scene now switches to Castlegar on Tuesday. Nelson needs a win or a tie to extend the series to a third game which would return to the NDCC on February 16 at 9 a.m.

Scoring for Nelson was Amit Bhabra, Everett Hicks and Taylor Cooper. Kadrian Klimchuk scored four of Castlegar's goals.

The winner gets the West Kootenay berth in the Tier III provincials which will be held next month.

Nelson finished the regular season with a 7-5 record and Castlegar finished the campaign with a 6-6 record.
