Devin Allen made 37 saves as the Nelson Leafs defeated the Border Bruins in Grand Forks 5-2 on Saturday in the regular season finale.

The win means Nelson secured third place in the Neil Murdoch Division and will face the Castlegar Rebels in the first round of the playoffs. The series begins Thursday in Castlegar.

Mason Mullaney scored twice for Nelson (21-21-5), while Alex Meeker, Logan Wullum and Nicholas Wihak also scored.

Trey Mason and Jordan Robertson replied for the Border Bruins (20-21-6), who will play the Beaver Valley Nitehawks in the first round. Goaltender Anthony Galliart stopped 28 shots in net for Grand Forks.

Nelson entered the game needing to beat Grand Forks in regulation to avoid the first-round date with the league-leading Nitehawks.
