The league-leading Nelson Leafs had little trouble against the worst team in the KIJHL.

Ryan Cooper scored twice and added an assist as the Leafs routed the Rockets in Golden 6-1 on Friday night.

Sawyer Hunt, Brendan Makay, Nicholas Wihak and Ryan Keilty also scored for the Leafs (17-3-2), who won their fifth straight game.

Sam Burford meanwhile made 26 saves in Nelson’s net.

Jake Gudjonson had the lone goal for the Rockets (1-17-3), while Canon Whitbread turned aside 39 shots as Golden lost its 18th straight game.

The Leafs visit the Fernie Ghostriders on Saturday. Nelson ends a six-game road trip Friday against the Grand Forks Border Bruins before hosting the Castlegar Rebels on Nov. 25.
