Nelson’s snow belonged to cross-country skiers last weekend.

The Nelson Nordic Ski Club hosted the Clearwater Challenge hill race on Saturday, followed by the final Kootenay Cup event on Sunday.

Thomas Dodsworth conquered the seven-kilometre Clearwater Challenge in 23 minutes 47 seconds ahead of fellow Nelson native Travis Hauck and third place Talon Vale of Fernie.

Twenty races were also held the next day for the Kootenay Cup’s final stop.

Rossland’s Remi Drolet won the open men’s 11-kilometre race, Fernie’s Jared Breneman took the masters’ A men’s race and Rossland’s George Edney won the masters’ B event.

Fernie’s Kerri Holmes took the masters A women’s event, Nelson’s Louise Poole won the masters’ B race by over six minutes and Fernie’s Alain Stahl held on to capture the recreational 7.5-km event.
