Nelson boxer Porter Hanson overcame an older opponent fighting in his hometown during a bout in Salmon Arm on Saturday.
Hanson, 13, put on a dominant performance against 15-year-old Jonas Enwhistle to earn a unanimous decision.
Will Adams, Jack Dool and Riel Martinez also competed for the Nelson Boxing Club.
Adams, 13, had Edmonton’s Troy Kenwick, 15, stumbling into the ropes during the third round, but it wasn’t enough to sway the judges who gave the Albertan a split-decision victory.
Adams and Kenwick will have a rematch in Nelson on May 28.
Dool, also 13, made his fight debut with a closely contested decision loss to Salmon Arm’s Gave Brown.
Martinez, 16, lost a decision against Canadian national champion Joshua Ofri, 18, of Edmonton. Ofris’ size and strength helped him edge Martinez, who will now represent Team BC at the Calgary Cup next weekend.
The Nelson Boxing Club hosts Fight Night 9 on May 28. The card begins at 6 p.m. at the Nelson Rod and Gun Club. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased at the boxing club, located at 685B Baker St.
