Jackson Zimmermann scored late to lead the Nelson Leafs to a 3-2 victory over the Border Bruins in Grand Forks on Friday night.

Zimmermann’s goal with 3:37 left in regulation gave the Leafs (19-3-2) their seventh straight win, and meant the team ended a six-game road trip undefeated.

Nelson continues to own the best record in the KIJHL and has an 11-point advantage over Beaver Valley for first atop the Neil Murdoch Division.

Ryan Piva and Ethan Beattie also scored for Nelson, while Josh Williams was electric with 40 saves.

Quinn Yeager, who was traded earlier this season by the Leafs to the Border Bruins, also put on a show with a 48-save performance for the home team. Briar Whyte and Zane Avery meanwhile scored for Grand Forks (10-13-1), which has now lost five in a row.

The Leafs host the Castlegar Rebels on Saturday night.
