CIBC Miracle Day is an employee-driven fundraiser that started at a Wood Gundy branch in 1984. Every year on the first Wednesday in December, CIBC’s wholesale banking employees and participating CIBC Wood Gundy Investment Advisors donate their fees and commissions to help kids in need. Since inception, Miracle Day has raised $60 million for children’s charities across Canada and $210 million globally. In 2010 the Nelson Wood Gundy branch donated $1,704 to local children’s charities and in 2011 this amount increased to $6,433. Most of the donations have gone to the Success by 6 program in Nelson. Wood Gundy recently handed over a cheque to Success by 6 and on hand were (L-R) Sonia Tavares (West Kootenay Early Years Coordinator), Simon Wheeldon (CIBC Wood Gundy), Robert Trickey (CIBC Wood Gundy), Colleen Pickerell (West Kootenay Early Years administrative support), Doug Turner (CIBC Wood Gundy), Ed Mannings (CIBC Wood Gundy), Fran Collier (CIBC Wood Gundy) and Gerry Mannings (CIBC Wood Gundy).
