A grand opening for the Cube Climbing Centre

It’s time to climb. There are all sorts of routes for climbers of various skill levels and ages at the new indoor rock climbing facility.

The ribbon was cut to mark the official opening at the Cube Climbing Centre at the Mary Hall Building this evening.

The energy was high and kids were climbing the walls at the Cube Climbing Centre grand opening this evening.

City councillor Bob Adams and Selkirk College president Angus Graeme were just a few of the dignitaries there for the official opening of the facility that Kootenay Climbing Association president Shawn Tasker said is the only one of it’s kind in Canada. Tasker thanked the dedicated board who drove the the three year project - Scott Jeffery, Larry Bickerton, Cam Shute, Ico de Zwar, Val Evans, and Bruce Fitzearle.

Several corporate sponsors were there such as David Lussier from Summit Mountain Guides, Rebeckha Hornung of Whitewater and a representative from Armada Skis.

The gym is now open Sunday through Friday for indoor climbing and bouldering at the Mary Hall Building on 10th Street.
