Thank you for supporting our first GoByBike Week here in Nelson. Not only did your support create smiles it helped us achieve so much more.

We rode!

We laughed!

We had fun in the sun!

One hundred eighty riders participated, 19 teams came together, legs spun for 4,998 kilometres, the environment breathed in deeply as participants chose a bike over a car for 392 trips, which saved 1,084 kilograms of greenhouse gases.

If that isn’t enough to lift your spirits, consider the 149,940 calories collectively burned during the week. Looks like Nelson loves bikes!

We couldn’t have done it without you, GoByBike BC Society, Columbia Basin Trust, Gerick Cycle, Nelson and District Chamber of Commerce, City of Nelson, West Kootenay EcoSociety, The Sacred Ride, Kootenay Co-op Grocery, JR Functional Fitness, Kootenay Mountain Biking, Railtown Coffee House, BikeMaps.org, Myers-Mckimm Ceramics, Melafera Foods, Shawn Morris Creative and Zoe Taylor.

The West Kootenay Cycling Coalition is an active voice in the development of cycling infrastructure and enhancements to benefit cycling for active transportation in our city.

Strong cycling support equals safely moving together!
