ANKORS will hold the annual AIDS Walk fundraiser on Sept. 15 at Lakeside Park from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This event aims to raise money for the ANKORS Foundation Fund, which directly supports people living with HIV/AIDS in the East and West Kootenay regions by aiding with medical travel and health-related expenses.

This year’s fundraising will be done through an online silent auction. There are many items and gift certificates available from businesses within Nelson, including restaurants, hotel stays, golf, ziplines and more.

The online silent auction is open now and closes on Sept. 15.

The AIDS Walk event itself will begin at the rotary shelter in Lakeside Park in Nelson and participants will walk a route around the park. This event will include music and a barbecue picnic, and aims to promote awareness and education of HIV/AIDS in the Kootenays, as well as to celebrate ANKORS and our services in the community.

AIDS Network Kootenays Outreach and Support Society is a Nelson-based organization that also provides services of harm reduction in many different capacities in the Kootenays.
