Free rides were offered today on Nelson’s historical Streetcar #23 as part of the Fill the Birney car food drive by the Nelson Electric Trainway Society. In turn the Society collected an abundance of groceries and dry goods for those in need. In exchange for donating to the food drive with a non-perishable food item (or cash equivalent), people could rode the rails today gratis.
Their new museum at Lakeside Park car-barn was also open for tours.
