Deb Borsos was lead dispatcher for the community fire brigade during the 2024 Argenta Creek wildfire.

Deb Borsos, a community post-disaster recovery expert based in Argenta, will be guest speaker at Table Talk on Monday, Jan. 27, 5-7 p.m., at St. Saviour’s Anglican Church. 507 Ward St. in Nelson.

Borsos was lead dispatcher for her community fire brigade, and along with her team, worked with B.C. Wildfire Service crews to fight the Argenta Creek fire.

After the evacuation order was lifted, Borsos carried on with recovery support. She remains focused on supporting small, rural and remote communities in all regions of B.C. in their post-disaster recovery journeys.

Table Talk is a series of community potluck suppers sponsored by KAIROS, an interfaith group working for peace, environmental and social justice in Canada and throughout the world.

“We all strive to honour the web of life and the interconnection between humans and nature,” says organizer Sandra Hartline. “However, we are also experiencing fire, flood, famine, displacement and shifts in temperature and weather. Climate change can affect our health, safety, housing, ability to grow food, work and safety.

“Let's talk about these things.”
