Canadian Federation of University Women Nelson and District (CFUW) is hosting its third fundraising event SIP Talks: Stories Inspire Passion on Sept. 24.

SIP Talks is a social event where one hears extraordinary stories from seven dynamic women who live in the Kootenays. If you ever wonder what inspires a person to write a book, embark on fascinating research, or what it is like to compete in a world championship, then you will want to attend SIP Talks. CFUW Nelson and District’s goal is to raise funds to continue awarding scholarships to women in the community.

This year’s impressive line-up of presenters includes: director, actor and author Patricia Henman, poet and artist Zaynab Mohammed, athlete and physiotherapist Lori Anne Donald, author Luanne Armstrong, writer Jane Byers, performer and producer Sydney Black, and environmental consultant Avery DeBoer Smith.

Presenters will share their personal stories of what inspired them to become the dynamic women they are today.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 24, 4 to 7 p.m. at the Prestige Lakeside Resort. Doors will open at 3:30 p.m. Tickets are $65, which includes a beverage, appetizers, and of course, inspirational stories.

To purchase tickets, contact a club member or go online at http://siptalks.eventbrite.ca/. Tickets will also be sold at Otter Books commencing Sept. 1. If you would like to sponsor someone to attend, please let us know. Limited sponsored tickets are available, contact us at nelsoncfuw@gmail.com. Ticket sale ends Sept. 21.
