The Castlegar Sunrise Rotary Club, along with their major sponsor Doane Grant Thornton, came together to put on their first ever Tequila Tasting fundraiser on Jan. 25.
The event was held at the new Confluence centre in Castlegar. Taco's El Gringo provided a six-course meal to pair with the event's six tequilas. Local youth in the Rotary Interact Club helped with food service and kitchen duties.
Club president Gordon Malcom says the event was a complete success and sold out a week ahead of time with 72 in attendance.
"Thanks to the generosity of our sponsor we were able to auction off a vacation for two," said Malcolm.
Additional patrons also added in some extra gifts to the vacation package.
"The auction raised $6,000 thanks to our fabulous auctioneer Ron Anderson of Doane Grant Thornton," said Malcom.
The event raised $9000 for the Castlegar Sunrise Rotary Club to enable them to support more projects both locally and worldwide.
