The Kootenay Chamber Jazz Quartet will present original music and intricate arrangements of classic jazz repertoire on Monday, Oct. 1. It’s the first concert of the year in the Selkirk Pro-Musica Concert Series.

The group consists of local musicians Clinton Swanson, saxophones; Don Clark, trumpet; Doug Stephenson, guitar; and Rob Fahie, bass. Their music is inspired by groups like the Modern Jazz Quartet, which created elegant, classically influenced jazz for four decades starting in the late 1940s.

The concert will take place at St. Saviour’s Pro-Cathedral (Silica and Ward). Tickets are $15 and available at Otter Books and at the door.
